Partner 315-442-0160 aschultz@gilbertilaw.com Adam Schultz has 20 years of experience providing natural resource development, right-to-build and strategic planning advice to national, regional and local clients regarding environmental, energy, transmission, solid and hazardous waste/materials, land use, regulatory and litigation matters. Taking a business man's approach to legal issues, Mr. Schultz handles his clients' matters as if he were facing them himself. Developing collaborative relationships with all of those involved in a particular matter allows Mr. Schultz to identify the key facts that make resolution possible. He works closely with clients to understand their business operations, plans and needs, enabling him to devise an approach that is consistent with the client's unique set of circumstances. Right-to-Build Projects that Mr. Schultz has been involved with include: permitting a state-wide emergency communications wireless network for first-responders; the successful conclusion of over 100 federal/state siting and permitting processes, including hearings and/or litigation involving regulatory agencies, varied citizens groups and expert opposition for numerous large industrial and commercial operations; representing private land owners in defending and prosecuting cost recovery actions related to federal and state-required soil and groundwater remediation; and providing environmental counsel, due diligence and/or auditing services for business transactions and the sale/purchase of single and multi-site business operations. Natural Resources Long-standing relationships with the industry and its governing bodies have provided Mr. Schultz with a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of the issues facing natural resource extraction companies. He interacts regularly with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), including its Division of Mineral Resources, the division responsible for regulating mining and oil and gas development in the State. Frequently handling proceedings involving and against DEC, Mr. Schultz has the knowledge and insight to effectively navigate New York's unique regulatory environment to ensure the promotion and protection of industry and private interests. Mr. Schultz regularly works throughout the Northeast where he represents industrial and commercial manufacturers, energy producers, commercial and residential developers, waste disposal and landfill operators, salt producers and road building and natural resource extraction companies. Whenever the opportunity presents itself, Mr. Schultz will be found traveling abroad with his family. He has visited nearly 30 countries, leaving more than 100 others to discover and explore.
