As co-chair of the firm’s environmental practice, Mr. Heintz focuses on a wide variety of energy, commercial and industrial development projects, including multibillion dollar resort and entertainment projects, brownfield redevelopment, power generation, solid waste management, and surface mining facilities. Mr. Heintz has significant experience in town and municipal law, environmental law, right-to-build, land use regulation and zoning interpretation.

Mr. Heintz has served as lead counsel and permitting manager for the development of a $200 million state-of-the-art manufacturing complex and several steam/electric cogeneration facilities. He was instrumental in the permitting and environmental review of a $750 million gas-fired cogeneration facility, the second-largest in the country. He has also played a leading role in environmental litigation on behalf of industrial clients in the aggregate and construction industries.

Outside of his practice, Mr. Heintz is passionate about creating avenues for institutions of higher education to serve the community at large. That is why he was a principle figure in the creation of the Syracuse University College of Law’s internationally recognized Institute for National Security and Counterterrorism. Mr. Heintz also serves as a trustee to Syracuse University and as Chair of the Syracuse University College of Law’s Board of Advisors.
